Gérard PASCAL
Gérard PASCAL is Emeritus Senior scientist presently in charge of a mission on expertise at the National Institute for Agronomic Research (INRA) in France.
Engineer in biochemistry (INSA, Lyon) and holder of a Master in nutrition, he exercised his research activities at the CEA (Atomic Energy Authority), at the National Centre for Scientific Research and mainly at INRA where he has created and chaired the Department of Nutrition, Food and Food Safety before becoming one of the Scientific Directors at INRA.
His own research concerned n-3 fatty acids and lipid metabolism as well as the assessment of the safety of food additives and the relations between diet and the toxicity of dangerous substances.
He developed at the same time activities of scientific expertise and chaired the Scientific council of the French Agency of Sanitary Safety of Food (AFSSA).
He is an expert in food safety in WHO.
He is the author of more than 150 scientific publications and of approximately the same number of expert reports as well in France as in the international.
